John McConihe was the private secretary to territorial governors William A. Richardson. He was born in 1834 in Troy, New York and relocated to Omaha in Nebraska Territory in 1857. McConihe was appointed to Adjutant General of Nebraska Territory he was responsible for military expeditions and the 1st Nebraska Regiment.
